What exactly is the Distance Learning Program?
It's like having your own professional martial arts coach. For a small monthly fee you can ask an unlimted amount of questions so you train better and faster. Also, you get monthly drills and articles related to becoming a better fighter and earning your black belt faster.
Do I have to purchase the whole dvd set to belong to the Distance Learning Program?
No, you can purchase the yellow belt dvd only if you like (remember for a limited time you can get 1-3 months free of the DLP program.)
How much does it cost after I purchased my DVD's?
Depending on which option you choose it is only $15.99 a month. For a limited time there are no set up fees.
I've purchased the dvd's now what?
You will immediately be sent an email of how to begin the program. You will be sent a password to enter into the member section.
Do I need a partner to practice with?
No, you can practice alone if you like. That is what is unique and convenient about our program. The dvd's will guide you through the system without having to have a partner. However, it is a bonus to have one!
How much should I practice?
That depends on how you want to progress through the system. On average our students practice 3-6 hours weekly.
How long will it take me to get through the whole system?
Again that depends on how much you practice and if you have previous martial arts experience. On average it takes 30-36 months to attain your black belt.
What if I have a question about a technique, form, set or anything else?
Simply email us at info@blackbeltlife.com and a certified black belt will get back with you within 1-3 business days. Please do not contact The Sasaki Kenpo Studios as BlackBelt Life Productions handles all Distance Learning questions.
I'm ready to test now what?
Simply go to the shopping cart section and purchase your appropriate belt level test. It is available for an immediate download as an mp3 or you can purchase as a cd. If you purchase as a cd it will be sent out via the United States Postal Service. You will normally have your testing cd within 5 business days if you chose this method.
Once I recieve the test how long do I have to take it?
You have 15 days to return the completed test to the address below.
What type of cam corder will I need?
You can film yourself using VHS, DVD, or DV-Cam. Other digital formats are acceptable as well. Please do not send High 8 as we do not have the capabiltiy to view this method.
How do I perform the test?
Simply play the cd or mp3 on your player. You will perform the test just like if you were in the studio. Follow Sifu Jody's instructions until the test is completed.

How long will it take to get my certificate of rank and new belt?
Once we have received your test it normally takes one to two weeks to review. We will then send it back to you immediately. Please allow 3 weeks for the whole process. Please contact us at info@blackbeltlife if you have questions.
Will my certificate of rank be recognized by other studios?
The Sasaki Kenpo Association™ and its members are recognized throughout the United States and some foriegn countries.
What will my certificate of rank say?
Your certificate of rank will be signed by a panel of certified black belts. The main signature will be signed by Jody Sasaki. It will state your certificate of rank granted by the Sasaki Kenpo Association™.
Will I be "locked" into any contracts if I join?
Absolutely not! You can stop at anytime. However, 95% of our students who join are happy with the program and remain until they achieve their black belt.
